NOF hosted the
“Strong Voices for Strong Bones
Advocacy Training Meetings,” to
educate individuals about
advocating for osteoporosis and
bone health with local, state
and federal government
representatives. These regional
meetings were held in New
Jersey, Colorado, Michigan, and
Georgia.
The intensive,
full-day workshops focused on
training attendees to
effectively communicate with
lawmakers about
osteoporosis-related issues.
The trainings also included a
brief overview of the state and
federal legislative processes,
and several interactive sessions
including a discussion of
factors that influence officials
and an exploration of tips and
techniques that build positive
relationships with elected
officials. NOF resources, such
as the Advocacy Action Center,
were also highlighted to
encourage participants to
advocate for osteoporosis
research, prevention, education
and access to quality care.
The “Strong
Voices for Strong Bones Advocacy
Training Meetings” are one
component of NOF’s grassroots
program to advance public health
policies to benefit those with
or at risk for osteoporosis.
