OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this CE material, the
participant should be able to:
- Identify the causes and skeletal consequences of
chronic kidney disease.
- Discuss the significance of occult CKD in elderly
patients.
- Recognize the difficulties associated with
applying WHO osteoporosis diagnostic criteria to CKD
patients.
- Determine the best method currently available to
conclusively diagnose osteoporosis in a patient with
chronic kidney disease.
- Cite the management considerations involved in
treatment of a CKD patient diagnosed with osteoporosis.
