Osteoporosis: Clinical Updates

The following continuing education self-study module is provided as a professional education service of the National Osteoporosis Foundation. Participants will be able to read the article and take the self-assessment test prior to registration and making payment for Continuing Education (CE) credit.

Needs Assessment

Osteoporosis is a major public health threat for an estimated 44 million Americans, or 55 percent of the people 50 years of age and older. In the U.S. today, 10 million individuals are estimated to already have the disease and almost 34 million more are estimated to have low bone mass, placing them at increased risk for osteoporosis.

The goal of the NOF Osteoporosis: Clinical Updates is to improve patient care related to osteoporosis prevention, diagnosis, and treatment by providing clinicians with state-of-the-art information and pragmatic strategies on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of osteoporosis that they may apply in clinical practice.

Intended Audience

The following continuing education activity is intended for the use of health professionals who participate in the care of patients at risk for or suffering from osteoporosis, including but not limited to primary care physicians, endocrinologists, geriatricians, gynecologists, internists, obstetricians, orthopedists, osteopaths, pediatricians, physiatrists, radiologists, rheumatologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physical therapists.
