Steps for Strong Bones – Marine Corps Marathon

Steps for Strong Bones promotes bone health through weight
bearing activity such as walking or running. It also provides a way to
track your daily activities on-line and send e-mails asking friends and
family to donate to NOF as a show of support.

Joining Steps for Strong Bones is a great way to run the Marine Corps Marathon, also known as The People's Marathon. You can experience the thrill and the challenge of completing the Marathon and gain the satisfaction of knowing that you did it not just for yourself, but to help raise awareness of osteoporosis and bone health. With your help NOF hopes to reach it's goal of $25,000 in support of it's programs of Awareness, Advocacy, Education and Research.

NOF’s 13th Annual Gala Awards Dinner Dance will be held Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.  The black tie dinner is NOF's premier special event that raises awareness and funds to support our mission – to prevent osteoporosis, to promote lifelong bone health, to help improve the lives of those affected by osteoporosis and related fractures and to find a cure.  Advance ticket purchase required.

Eileen Fisher, a high end women’s clothing retailer, has planned a Petite Appreciation event at their New York City area locations.  Visit select EILEEN FISHER stores during Petite Week, a special shopping week especially for the petite dresser!  Enjoy personal consultations, informal modeling, sweet treats and more!  As part of the event, designated Eileen Fisher stores will donate a portion of all proceeds from sales received on the designated day to NOF.  Representatives from NOF and NYSOPEP* area support groups will be on hand to provide information about osteoporosis to customers during each store event.

*NYSOPEP is the New York State Osteoporosis Prevention and Education Program that hosts a statewide network of support groups committed to providing current, evidence-based information about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. A Gift from Mothers to Daughters
will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at The Pierre Hotel in New York City. The themeof the luncheon, A Gift from Mothers to Daughters, is inspired by the gifts that generations of women have passed on to their families, one of the most important is the gift of knowledge about health – especially information about bone health and osteoporosis. To acknowledge and encourage this gift, NOF is hosting a festive afternoon of socializing and networking with a silent auction and live entertainment. Leadership includes event chair Sharon Marantz Walsh; vice chair and NOF trustee, Carol Saline; and honorary chair, the legendary model Carmen.  Advance ticket purchase is required.
