Research Grants Program
One-Year Grants of $57,000 each
The National Osteoporosis Foundation
(NOF) invites Letters of Intent from
qualified investigators for support of
clinical or basic research related to
the epidemiology, pathogenesis,
diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis.
Program focus: A primary focus of NOF is
ensuring that adequate funding and
researchers are available to support
scientific research projects on
osteoporosis prevention, diagnosis and
treatment. Priority for funding are
young investigators at the beginning or
early stages of their faculty careers
and within 4 years of completion of the
postdoctoral training period.
Applicant eligibility:
- Applicants must have an M.D., Ph.D. or
equivalent degree,
-
Be within four years of completion of
the postdoctoral training period,
-
Must have U.S. citizenship or permanent
resident status, and
-
Be affiliated with a U.S.-based
not-for-profit academic or research
institution.
Investigators who have not been funded
previously by NOF will be given
preference. Investigators who hold a
current NOF grant are ineligible.
Federal agencies and their employees are
not eligible. Grants are not made to
individual investigators.
Award amount and institutional overhead:
Grant applications may include salaries
and a maximum of 14% in overhead costs
not to exceed total grant amount of
$57,000.
Due dates and application instructions:
October 15, 2007 Research Grant Announcement is published. The 2008 research grant cycle begins.
December 1, 2007 Submit a one-page Letter of Intent,
clearly describing the proposed research
project and specific objectives. Submit
by one of three methods:

After review, researchers who submit
Letters of Intent that describe projects
consistent with the research agenda of
NOF will be asked to submit full
research grant proposals. Notifications
will be sent by this date if a full
proposal is requested for funding
consideration.
February 20, 2008 Deadline to submit complete proposals.
