Friday, May 16, 2008The National Osteoporosis Foundation its 13th Annual Silhouette Ball in New York City.

The Gala Awards Dinner Dance took place at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. The event is NOF’s annual opportunity to recognize the individuals who support and advance NOF’s vision of making bone health a reality and lifelong priority for all Americans. Ms. Lesley Stahl, 60 Minutes correspondent and previous Gala honoree, served as Mistress of Ceremonies lending her passion and energy to the evening.

Denise LeFrak Calicchio and Francine LeFrak Friedberg, prominent New York businesswomen and daughters of Mrs. Ethel LeFrak, noted philanthropist and bone health supporter, presented the  Ethel LeFrak Award to Libby Pataki, former First Lady of New York, for her leadership and commitment to women’s health.

Grace Palmer, accepting the Strong Women Stand Tall award. “Amazing Grace,” as she is sometimes called, was the winner of NOF and Woman’s Day Magazine’s Strong Women Stand Tall Essay Contest.

“The Three Waiters” were a hit as entertainment at the dinner, as can be seen by the exuberant napkin twirl the guests performed.



U.S. Representative Michael C. Burgess, M.D. receiving the Paul G. Rogers Leadership Award for advancing osteoporosis as a critical health issue.
