Following is a Statement by the National Osteoporosis Foundation on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Approval of Once-a-Month ACTONEL ®
Washington, DC (June 10, 2008)– Osteoporosis is a serious, widespread and growing public health threat, according to the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF). NOF welcomes any new FDA approved treatment options, such as Once-a-Month ACTONEL®, that will help patients address this prevalent disease. NOF estimates 10 million Americans age 50 and older have osteoporosis and another 34 million are at risk for the disease.
