Are you interested in learning more
about the quality of your bones?
Investigators at
Columbia University Medical Center are
looking for postmenopausal women to
participate in a study at using a new
non-invasive technology called high
resolution peripheral quantitative
tomography (HRpQCT). This
state-of-the-art scanner provides
information not only on how much bone
you have but also a three-dimensional
picture of bone structure and the
quality of your bone.
The study involves one visit to Columbia
in New York City, blood and urine tests,
a bone density, spine x-rays, and an
HRpQCT scan. All tests will be paid for
by the investigators, and subjects will
receive copies of their scans.
Women who are over 60 or went through
menopause at least 10 years ago, and who
have not taken Forteo or a
bisphosphonate (Fosamax, Actonel, Boniva,
Reclast) for more than one year are
eligible to participate.
