We use a state-of-the-art bone densitometer: the Lunar DPX-IQ to perform bone mineral density tests Monday-Thursday. The test is quick, safe, non-invasive and painless. We will promptly provide your physician with a precise report of your BMD measurements with comparison to a young adult population, and your osteoporosis risk factors. Staci Boudreaux, Coordinator for Bone Health Central, is a certified Physician Assistant and an ISCD Certified Clinical Densitometrist.  Bone Health Central is the region's only comprehensive program developed specifically for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of bone disorders. Our comprehensive Osteoporosis Program includes bone density testing (Olney), a follow-up appointment with our Physiatrist, Dr. Rebecca Aronson and a personalized treatment plan, which may include Physical Therapy. The Department of Family and Community Medicine - Las Vegas is part of the University of Nevada School of Medicine, in which the most up-to-date diagnostic and treatment modalities are promoted within a learning community.

The Osteoporosis & Metabolic Bone Disease Center located at the Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center (across from the Livingston Mall) provides the most advanced diagnosis of osteoporosis in New Jersey. The Osteoporosis Center of SUNY Upstate Medical University is located at the Joslin Diabetes Center and provides a uniquely comprehensive approach to the evaluation and treatment of osteoporosis and related metabolic bone diseases such as Paget's disease, osteomalacia, and osteogenesis imperfecta. The center is supervised by Arnold M. Moses, MD with an interdisciplinary team consisting of adult and pediatric endocrinologists, osteoporosis nurse educators, and an exercise physiologist.

In addition to providing patient care, the Center's personnel conducts continuing educational programs on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of osteoporosis for physicians, other health care professionals, and lay people. The latter programs include community outreach and school site presentations. These programs are under the aegis of NYSOPEP (NY State Osteoporosis Prevention and Education Program). In addition, Center personnel conduct research on the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. All of these activities have an important impact on improving bone health of the people of Central and Northern New York.

The Osteoporosis Center is recognized by the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) as a member of the Professional Partners Network. The network is designed to work with NOF in a year-round effort to provide accurate, timely information to patients, family members, at-risk individuals and the general public. Our membership with this network demonstrates our commitment to providing osteoporosis education programs to increase awareness and knowledge of osteoporosis prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

David Goddard is Professor of Clinical Medicine at SUNY-HCSB. He is an active researcher in osteoporosis. He provides comprehensive care for those at risk for the disease. A full evaluation includes bone densitometry which helps assess the risk of fracture, together with an interpretation relative to personal medical history. Advice on preventative measures and treatment alternatives are given.

The Osteoporosis Center of Queens has been established for over 20 years. It was the first and is still the foremost comprehensive center in Queens for osteoporosis evaluation and management. Our board certified endocrinologists are also ISCD certified clinical densitometrists. We use state of the art technology DXA, (Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry) to diagnosis osteoporosis/osteopenia.

The first of its kind in the nation, the Osteoporosis Prevention Center at HSS was founded to help prevent and treat osteoporosis. Recognized by Congress as a model for other organizations to follow, it is the only center in New York City that is part of the New York State Osteoporosis Prevention & Education Program.

DXA bone density tests are done by appointment and you will be asked if you would like to meet with a nurse clinician to review your results. A unique aspect of the Osteoporosis Prevention Center is a one-on-one consultation with a nurse clinician. Counseling is provided in relationship to your risk profile for osteoporosis, lifestyle behavior, and medical history, as well as your test results. The nurse clinician will also address important components of bone health, such as calcium, Vitamin D, and exercise, and their role in prevention of osteoporosis. During the course of your consultation, all treatment modalities are discussed and referrals made (if indicated), all of your questions and concerns will be answered, and the Osteoporosis Prevention Center nurse clinician will be available for continued support afterwards. There is a nominal fee for this consultation service. Following your nurse consultation, your case will be reviewed by our multidisciplinary team of physicians, all experts in the field of metabolic bone disorders. Based on your DXA results, medical history, and risk factors, written recommendations will be made to you and your physician, thus developing an individualized treatment plan. Our goal is to keep both patients and their primary physicians informed and involved. Regional Physicians on Premier offers services for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of osteoporosis and low bone mass. Our primary goal is to prevent fractures. This is accomplished through nutrition, dietary supplements, exercise, fall prevention, and medication when needed. Dr. Fullerton, an ISCD certified densitometrist, will also screen for secondary causes of osteoporosis. Premier imaging, located across the street, offers no wait walk-in service for bone density scans.

Our onsite physical therapy and occupational therapy services have a dedicated osteoporosis program. Instruction is given in exercise to strengthen bone and prevent falls. We also work very closely with the exercise professionals and dietitians at High Point Regional's Fitness Center.
