I am Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Rheumatology. I am also a member of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD). My specialty is Rheumatology and its related illnesses. My professionally trained staff and I are knowledgeable, compassionate and caring. Our focus is early detection of osteoporosis. We use a state-of-the-art bone densitometer: the Lunar DPX-IQ to perform bone mineral density tests Monday-Thursday. The test is quick, safe, non-invasive and painless. We will promptly provide your physician with a precise report of your BMD measurements with comparison to a young adult population, and your osteoporosis risk factors. We perform Remicade infusions on Wednesdays. Remicade (infliximab) is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Dr. Heather Hofflich is an associate clinical professor of medicine at UCSD. She is board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology.  She has practiced at UCSD Health System since May 2008, specializing in osteoporosis, thyroid, diabetes, primary care, and women’s health. 

Dr. Hofflich received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.  She attended medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and did her internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Hofflich did a research fellowship at Rockefeller University in New York City.  Dr. Hofflich is a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology.  Dr. Hofflich became an ICSD certified Clinical Bone Densitometrist (CCD) in 2009.  She received a San Diego Top Doctor award in 2012.

The John Muir Osteoporosis Center is dedicated to the identification and treatment of loss of bone mass in the members of our community. The facility offers diagnostic bone density testing (hip/spine DXA's) and also inexpensive bone density screening by DXA. Screening is offered on-site and at several other locations in the area. Kathy Mulford is a nurse practitioner, board certified in both adult medicine and orthopedics. In addition to treating non-surgical spine, upper extremity and general orthopedic issues, Kathy is the Director of the Bone Health Center at Towson Orthopaedic Associates and treats bone health issues including osteopenia and osteoporosis. Kathy provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of bone health issues including appropriate testing, education and medications.
