Enhancing Osteoporosis Outcomes in Primary Care

An online resource to learn about osteoporosis and to stay up-to-date on current trends in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis.

Enhancing Osteoporosis Outcomes in Primary Care is a joint collaboration of the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) and DIME, and is intended to provide professional education activities to physicians, physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners.

Primary care clinicians will benefit from participating in this initiative through:

  • Increased understanding of practice deficits related to current recommendations
  • Improved osteoporosis assessment skills
  • Enhanced knowledge of the safety of various therapies
  • Reduced gaps in optimal treatment of osteoporosis owing to poor adherence
  • Improved clinical care in certain challenging scenarios, such knowing when and how to initiate therapy, switching or restarting therapy, and addressing treatment failure
  • Increased emphasis on multidisciplinary approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis

The initiative includes a series of certified educational activities that include:

  • CME Spotlight Hosted on Medscape
  • Journal of Family Practice CME Journal Supplement
  • Primary Care Education Live Meetings and Enduring Material
  • Practicing Clinicians Exchange NP & PA Live Meetings and Enduring Material
