#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that takes place annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

All donations from #GivingTuesday will support the Healthy Bones, Build Them for Life® Patient Registry. A first of its kind tool in the osteoporosis field, this registry surveys patients and caregivers about how osteoporosis and low bone density impact their lives. This patient-reported information is collected anonymously, combined, and analyzed by the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) to map out the patient journey. This map will show NOF and the broader bone health community what patients need and want most. To learn more, click here.

There are a several ways to get involved!

Osteoporosis affects millions of people in the United States and worldwide. It is often called a silent disease because one can’t feel bones weakening. Breaking a bone is often the first sign of osteoporosis. Here are five fast facts you should know – all good reasons to help support those who may be affected by, or at risk for developing, this potentially debilitating disease.

  1. Women begin to lose bone dramatically at menopause. In fact, women can lose up to 20% of bone mass in the first 5-7 years post-menopause.
  2. One in four men will break a bone due to osteoporosis in their lifetime.
  3. A healthy diet and regular exercise (weight-bearing and muscle-strengthening) are essential for bone growth and maintenance, but they alone cannot “cure” osteoporosis.
  4. Peak Bone Mass is reached by your early-to-mid 20s in most people. Children and adolescents who reach peak bone mass reduce their risk of developing osteoporosis later in life.
  5. Osteoporosis can cause broken bones, loss of mobility, loss of independence, and sometimes death.

Hello Colleagues, Family and Friends,

This year for #GivingTuesday, I’m raising money for the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF). I’m supporting NOF on December 1st to raise awareness and support those living with osteoporosis or low bone density.

Please consider supporting my campaign which ends December 2nd by clicking on this link to our donation page. For just $5, you can help make a huge difference for someone living with this debilitating disease.

NOF is the leading health organization dedicated to preventing osteoporosis and broken bones, promoting strong bones for life and reducing human suffering through programs of public and clinician awareness, education, advocacy and research. Established in 1984, NOF is the nation’s only health organization solely dedicated to osteoporosis and bone health.

Large or small, every amount helps! If you’re unable to donate at this time, I’d really appreciate it if you’d share information about our efforts on social media or forward this email to people in your network.

Thank you so much!

Social Media Toolkit

Whether you, a family member or friend are affected, we can work together to make a difference. In these times of uncertainty, it’s more important than ever that we unite to support each other, rally our communities and raise critical funds needed to support those who have issues with bone health. This #GivingTuesday, we are raising funds for the Healthy Bones, Build Them for Life® Patient Registry, a survey tool that shows the broader health community (especially doctors and healthcare providers) what patients need most.

NOF’s social media toolkit is complete with posts, tweets and images – making it easier for everyone to spread the news about our #GivingTuesday campaign. For inspiration, check out the information below!
